ANET – Scholarship Program

ANET (Spanish initials for “Friends of Exception Children of Tarija”) is a non-profit organization founded in May 1986 in response to the needs of handicapped people in Tarija.

ANET works with more than 1,200 handicapped children and youth per year, providing rehabilitation, special education and job placement. ANET has motivated the construction of Centers of Special Education in the city of Tarija as well as in the provinces (counties) of Bermejo, Yacuiba and Villamontes.

BCF currently provides scholarships for ANET university students.

Scholarship Program

When they finish high school, young people must leave orphanage/children’s home they live in. Most of them have no family and there are no financial aid programs for them to turn to. The BCF scholarship program was created to help the young people from BCF-assisted homes to attain a technical or university career to provide them with the job skills to become self-sufficient.

Beginning in1996 BCF has provided an average of ten scholarships a year. Since 2006 Emilie’s Charities has generously provided the funds for the scholarships.

In 2009 five ANET young people, two young women from San Ignacio, two young women and a young man from Rosa de Anze are receiving scholarships.
