Rosa de Anze Home, Quillacollo, Cochabamba
Hogar de Niños Rosa G. de Anze is an orphanage, established February 1997 under the direction of Sister Josephine Purcell. In 2009, the Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart received directorship of the Hogar. They continue to reach out to the community in providing for the educational, social and health needs of children and young people in the neighborhood located in Quillacollo, Cochabamba, Bolivia. BCF continues to support the Home, children and the infrastructure of the project overall.
The Hogar: As funding sustainability is received the Carmelite Sisters will continue to promote the educational and social development of girls in a safe family climate. To offer to girls the necessary resources so that they can integrate into a social and familiar community. The vision of the Hogar is to offer space to receive, assist, love, educate and offer an integral formation in the girls, which qualifies them to develop and to grow as women responsible for their own destination and a positive contributor to society.
Escuela Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe opened in 2002. In 2011, a 6th year [grade] classroom was opened, reaching all the primary levels as required by the new education law. Currently there are 290 who receive comprehensive training in the mornings. Many of the children are from families who have migrated from the countryside with many gaps [in education].
The Library opened in 2005 with books, computers and internet access for children and university students of the area, a possibility they would not otherwise have. The library is opened in the afternoons so children have access to the computer center and internet school support. Various recreational activities and additional educational training are available to the neediest children in the neighborhood.
Training for Women: Outreach to families is given to improve the situation of abuse and neglect that comes with many of the children. Comprehensive training for women includes lectures and reflections of human and Christian development, baking courses and craft classes.
We thank our many friends in the U.S. and Europe; it is with your generous monetary support that we can continue our work with the neediest children and their families in our barrio.
